Steam Challenge 2026

The Steam Challenge is an eight-hour timed event held on a scenic route in Devon. The course follows a disused train line and features an undulating profile with a mix of off-road and paved surfaces. Participants complete laps of a 5.3 km out-and-back circuit, with the flexibility to choose how many laps to complete within the permitted timeframe.

The event utilizes a "Turn Up Get Going" system, allowing participants to begin their run at any time during the morning. All participants must finish their final lap by the designated afternoon cutoff. Every person who completes at least one lap is considered a finisher and receives a medal, unless they have selected an entry option without perks.

This event is open to individuals aged 18 and over, including both runners and walkers. Entries are strictly limited to 70 participants. If registration reaches capacity, those entering later may receive a different bespoke medal from the organizer's available stock.

The venue is located at Station Road, Bridestowe, and the route provides a natural setting for endurance running. Local accommodation is available nearby at the Fox & Hounds, which offers hotel rooms, a bunkhouse, and camping facilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
