Running Events Devon - Steam Challenge 2026

Running Events Devon stages the Steam Challenge on Sunday 30 August 2026 at Station Road, Bridestowe, EX20 4HF (///clots.insolvent.inclined). The event uses an eight hour timed format on a scenic course that follows an old disused train line. Each lap measures 5.3 km and is an out and back route on a mix of off road and paved surfaces. The course is described as undulating.

The event operates a TUGG system that allows flexible arrival within the organiser's arrival window and requires completion of laps within the overall permitted time. Participants may complete as many laps as they can within that time; those who finish their final lap within the permitted period are classed as finishers and receive a medal. The organiser notes that walkers and runners may take part and that finishers can range from one lap to many laps.

Entries are limited to 70 participants and the entry period closes on 27 August 2026. Minimum age is 18 years. Entry categories and prices listed by the organiser include affiliated £32 and unattached £34, with lower priced options without medal or goodies.
