The Steam Challenge takes place on Sunday, 30 August 2026 at a new venue on Station Road, Bridestowe, EX20 4HF. The event is organised by Running Events Devon and is a timed event with a seven-hour limit for competitors.

The course is an out-and-back route on an old disused train line. Each lap is 5.3 km and is described as undulating with a mix of off-road and paved surfaces. Participants who complete their final lap within the permitted time can collect a medal.
