Running Events Devon - Steam Challenge 2026

The Steam Challenge is an 8 hour timed running and walking event taking place on 30 August 2026 at a new venue in Bridestowe, Station Road EX20 4HF. The event uses a TUGG system (Turn Up Get Going) that allows participants a flexible start within the event window while remaining subject to the overall timed format.

The course is an out-and-back route on an old disused train line, described as scenic. Each lap measures 5.3 km, and the route is a mix of off-road and paved surfaces with undulating terrain. Participants may complete as many laps as they can within the permitted time; finishing any number of laps up to the event limit is recognised with a finisher medal. If the event reaches capacity, entrants registering later will receive a bespoke medal chosen from those available on the day.

Entries are limited to 70 participants and close on 27 August 2026. The minimum age to enter is 18 years. Entry fees vary by affiliation and by whether event perks such as a medal are included, with separate categories for affiliated and unattached participants.

For local accommodation the organiser suggests Fox & Hounds, which offers rooms, a bunk house and camping, and serves food. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
