Lundy Island Half Marathon
The Lundy Island Half Marathon is a trail race across Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel covering 13.5 miles on tracks and trails maintained by the Landmark Trust. The course visits all four corners of the island, using a technical eastern coastal trail, undulating western clifftops and the island's central spine with a number of side tracks. The race is fully marked and marshalled and has a 3.75 hour time limit.
Registration and the start and finish are on the village green outside the Marisco Tavern. After arriving by boat, entrants walk up to race headquarters in the village in around 15 minutes to register and collect race numbers. Two aid stations are on course, at the North Lighthouse and at Castle Hill, and both are passed twice during the event. Dogs are not permitted on the island. Minimum age under TRA rules is 17 years.
There are two entry types. Raceboat entries include travel on a chartered ferry and the chartered vessel used for the race takes 250 runners; the Raceboat is for runners and marshals only. Non-Raceboat entries provide race entry only and require entrants to make their own travel arrangements to the island. The organiser publishes specific refund and name-change conditions for each entry type. Mandatory kit requirements include capacity to carry 500 ml of water, trail shoes, a backpack or waistpack, head cover, waterproof jacket, foil blanket, a collapsible reusable cup, a fully charged mobile phone with the Race Director's number installed, and emergency food.
