The Brecon to Cardiff Ultra is a one-way, fully marked 70k race organised by Run Walk Crawl. The event takes place on 1 March 2026 and finishes at Coleg y Cymoedd, Parc Nantgarw, Nantgarw, CF15 7QX. Entry is open to people aged 18 and over on the event date. The published entry price is £80.
Route and facilities
The route follows the Taff Trail from Brecon to Nantgarw. It starts in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park and passes reservoirs, waterfalls and sections with industrial heritage. Key places on the route include Talybont-on-Usk, Pontsticill Reservoir, Merthyr (with views of Cefn Coed Viaduct and Cyfarthfa Castle), Aberfan, Pontypridd and the finish at Nantgarw. The first 30k is almost exclusively on footpath and forestry trails. From Merthyr the route follows an off-road cycle path to the finish. The race is linear; competitors park at the finish and are transported by coach to the start.
The event base at the finish provides parking, a café, a large indoor registration area, toilets, changing rooms and showers. It is accessible off the A470 and is one junction from the M4. The event notes nearby hotels, guest houses, cafes and public transport links to Cardiff.
