Brecon Beacons : Bannau Brycheiniog WFRA 2026
This fell race covers 34 km (about 21.1 miles) with 1700 m of ascent across the Brecon Beacons. The 2026 route includes eight summits and is to be run anticlockwise. The course has been marginally adjusted for 2026 as the WFRA Long Distance Championship race, though the majority of the route remains the same.
Main changes for 2026 include the inclusion of Fan y Big and a moved finish to Talybont on Usk village rather than the Dam. The finish relocation and route tweak have resulted in slightly more ascent and distance.
Safety notes state that local knowledge is beneficial and that significant mountain experience and navigational skills are required. Two cutoffs will be applied to protect marshals and volunteers: one at Bwlch ar y Fan, approximately 10 km into the race and after about 700 m of ascent, and a second at the Torpantau road crossing, about 21.5 km in and after about 1250 m of ascent.
Registration is at Henderson Hall, Talybont on Usk (GR SO 1128 2286). The race start is at the normal anticlockwise layby (GR SO 105210), about 2.4 km from the registration venue. Entry is by pre-entry (£17) via Fabian4. Parking is available at Talybont cattle market for £5 per car. Minimum age is over 18. Male and female teams score on the first three finishers.
