Brecon Beacons Bannau Brycheiniog

Brecon Beacons : Bannau Brycheiniog
The race is a mountain fell event in the Brecon Beacons covering 34 km with 1700 m of ascent and visits eight summits. The 2026 route has been marginally tweaked for the WFRA Long Distance Championship; the main changes include the inclusion of Fan y Big and a relocated finish in Talybont on Usk village rather than the Dam, which increases the distance and ascent slightly. The course is run anticlockwise.
Safety guidance notes that local knowledge is beneficial, significant experience is required, and navigational skills are needed. Two checkpoint cutoffs are applied to protect marshals and volunteers: the first at Bwlch ar y Fan, approximately 10 km into the race and after about 700 m of ascent, and the second at the Torpantau road crossing, at about 21.5 km and 1250 m of ascent.
Teams are scored by the first three finishers for male and female teams. Minimum age to enter is over 18. Registration takes place at Henderson Hall, Talybont on Usk; the race start is about 2.4 km from the registration venue. Parking is available at Talybont cattle market for a fee. Entry is by pre-entry with an entry fee and the event is insured by WFRA. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
