Bramble Ramble
The Bramble Ramble features two trail events on Montcalm Community College's Sidney campus each September. The program includes a 5 kilometer trail run/walk and a 10 kilometer memorial trail run, held on the college nature trails. All proceeds benefit the college nature trails for improvement, community outreach and education.
The trails offer more than four miles of marked paths with numbered posts, and maps are available at major trailheads. As a trail race, the course includes natural obstacles such as tree roots, rocks, acorns and slippery platforms. Surfaces vary and include grass, dirt, boardwalk, gravel road and pavement. Terrain ranges from flat to hilly.
GPS devices may show distances under or over the expected race length under forest cover, and course lines can vary by about 0.1 miles depending on running line and conditions.
Start and finish are located at the pavilion behind the Greenhouse on the Sidney campus. Restrooms are available at the Instruction North Building. Parking is accessed from College Ave; enter campus, pass the Activities Building and Administrative Building, then turn left into the lot near the Greenhouse.
Registration fees are listed for the regular entry period and late registration is available on race day for a higher fee. Awards include unique artwork for overall male and female winners, age group awards to be determined, participant medals and stickers. A prize drawing for handcrafted wooden furniture is open to participants and guests; winners must be present to claim items. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
