BRADBURY BREAKER : Pownal, ME
The Breaker is a trail race held at Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal, ME. The course is listed as 9 miles and consists of two laps of a single-track loop that is described as hilly and technical. The route uses the mountain side of the park trail network and includes repeated climbs over rocky and root-strewn forest trails.
The event enforces a race cutoff of 3 hours (20-minute mile pace). Field size is limited to 160 runners; there is no wait list, no bib number transfers, and no same-day registration. T-shirts are provided to registered runners at bib pickup; registrations made after June 26 will receive a Men's Large shirt by default and may exchange sizes after the race if extras remain.
Awards include first choice from the prize table for the top three overall male and female finishers, plus additional prizes awarded by random drawing among decade age group winners. The Breaker is part of the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series; runners who finish four series races within cutoff times receive a Bad Ass Hoodie. Overall series champions also receive a handcrafted Adirondack chair in addition to other prizes.
The race is organized by Trail Monster Running, a nonprofit run by unpaid volunteers. Proceeds support race equipment and local outdoor and trail-related nonprofit organizations. Leftover apparel is donated to local homeless shelters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
