BRADBURY BREAKER : event description
The Bradbury Breaker is a trail race held at Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal, ME. The course covers approximately 9 miles, run as two laps of a technical single track loop that traverses the mountain side of the park. The route includes sustained climbs and typical Maine trail features such as exposed rocks and roots through forested sections.
The race uses a generous time cutoff of 3 hours 0 minutes, effectively a 20 minute per mile pace. Field size is limited to 160 runners. When the cap is reached, registration closes and there is no wait list. There are no bib transfers and no same day registration.
Race day logistics note that bib pickup and T-shirt distribution occur the morning of the event; registered runners will receive a custom race T-shirt at check in and must be present to collect it. The first overall male and female finishers choose first from the prize table, and additional prizes are awarded by age group drawings.
The Breaker is one race in the Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series. Runners who complete four races in the series within the cutoff times earn a Bad Ass Hoodie after their fourth qualifying finish. Overall series champions receive a handcrafted Adirondack chair in addition to their hoodie and individual race prizes.
The series is organized by Trail Monster Running, a nonprofit run by unpaid volunteers, with proceeds supporting race equipment and local outdoor and trail charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
