Box Hill Vertical KM
This is a guided trail run in Box Hill, Dorking, Surrey, that covers approximately 12.5 miles and accumulates around 1000 m of elevation. The route has been planned to concentrate climbing into a relatively short distance without using repeated hill reps.
The course moves through woodland, heathland and open fields. Several climbs are technical and some sections require hands and knees scrambling to reach summits. The activity is run as a group rather than a race, with pauses at the top of climbs if needed.
Participants should be able to maintain an average pace of about 10 minutes per mile or 6 minutes per kilometre for prolonged trail running and have a suitable level of fitness. A full kit list is provided to participants and trail shoes are available to test.
Meeting point is Stepping Stones Car Park, Box Hill, Dorking, Surrey. Parking is available and the location is a short run or taxi ride from a train station. A fee of £19 per person applies. Detailed participant information will be provided in advance. An alcohol free beer from Athletic Brewing Company may be offered at the end of the run, subject to availability.
