Tawonga, Australia • 17 Jan 2026
Bogong to Hotham (Sat 17 Jan 2026)
Bogong to Hotham is a mountain ultra event with distances 29k, 35k and 64k. The race runs across the Victorian High Country and finishes at the Mt Hotham summit. Registration for the 2026 running is open. The event is organised in partnership with Trailsplus and Alpine Resorts Victoria.
Course
The race starts at Mountain Creek Campground. Runners climb Mt Bogong, descend T-Spur to the Big River, then climb Duane’s Spur to the Bogong High Plains. The main aid station is at Langford Gap. Runners then cross the high plains, drop to the Cobungra River and climb Swindler’s Spur to the Mt Hotham summit finish.
Entry, safety and logistics
The full 64k requires very good fitness and some ultra running experience. Mandatory gear is required for all distances and organisers assess entries on trail experience, endurance and pace/speed. Qualifying requirements for the 64k and 35k are the same; the 29k has lower entry requirements but still requires trail experience and mandatory gear. All runners must use the event tracker app and follow configuration instructions for iPhone or Android. Mountain Creek Picnic Area has very limited camping, a pit toilet and creek water. Nearby towns and drive times to the start are listed as Tawonga (10-15 minutes), Tawonga South (15-20 minutes) and Mt Beauty (20-25 minutes). Parking at Mountain Creek is limited; there is no bus to the start. Bus transport is available for some finish or transfer points with a ticket that includes the bus. Trailsplus donates $1 per participant to Canteen and has donated over $80,000 to date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
