Bogong to Hotham : Mountain Ultra
Bogong to Hotham is a mountain ultra held on Saturday 16 January 2027 with three distance options:
- 29k
- 35k
- 64k
The course starts at Mountain Creek Campground and follows alpine terrain to Mt Hotham summit. The route climbs Mt Bogong, descends T-Spur to Big River, then ascends Duane’s Spur to the Bogong High Plains. Runners pass the main aid station at Langford Gap, cross the high plains, drop to the Cobungra River and climb Swindler’s Spur before reaching the finish at Mt Hotham summit.
Organizers require all competitors to read the event information, download and configure the Tracker App, and carry mandatory equipment. The full 64k requires very good fitness and ultra running experience; entry assessment considers trail experience, endurance and pace or speed. Qualifying requirements for the 64k and 35k are the same; the 29k has lighter entry requirements but still requires trail experience and mandatory gear.
There is limited parking at the Mountain Creek Campground and no bus to the start; carpooling from nearby towns is encouraged. Transport options with purchased tickets are provided for certain return trips: 35k runners from Langford Gap and 64k and 29k runners from Mt Hotham to Mt Beauty. Nearby towns for accommodation include Tawonga, Tawonga South and Mt Beauty. Trailsplus donates $1 per participant to Canteen and has exceeded $80,000 in donations.
