The BMF UTA Stair Training / Taper Run takes place on 3 May 2026 in Katoomba, NSW, with the start/finish at Violet Street opposite Scenic World. The session is organised by Blue Mountains Fitness with support from The Body Mechanic and is aligned with STREEK.RUN UTA training plans and the Locker Room 16-week Ultra Trail Australia plans (end of week 14). The run includes at least the UTA11 course and may add additional UTA trails to extend the route up to 24 km. The route may change if National Parks or council closures, landslides, floods or other issues occur.

Course, groups and practical details

Trainers hold an NPWS ECO PASS licence and carry insurance to run training within the National Park. Pace groups are provided: TURTLES, a mid-paced group, and SPEEDY HARES; a walker group may be added if required. The event is used as race-day preparation and includes discussion of gear, race strategy, nutrition, pacing and aid-station information. Participants are asked to carry the UTA22 mandatory gear and enough fuel and hydration for the duration. Minimum age is 12. Expected on-course durations range from about two to three and a half hours depending on chosen distance and pace. Fees are listed as $65 for ages 16 and over and $50 for ages 11–15.
