Burralow Bush Run
Burralow Bush Run is a non-profit trail running event based at the Bilpin Fruit Bowl in the Blue Mountains region northwest of Sydney. The event uses marked trails around Kurrajong Heights, Bilpin and Bowen Mountain and is organised in collaboration with Hawkesbury Trail Runners. All funds raised are donated to the local Rural Fire Service; ten dollars from each registration is shared between Bilpin, Kurrajong Heights and Grose Vale.
Distances offered
- 16 km Devil’s Dash, approximately +184 m elevation
- 34 km Billy to Bomo, approximately +813 m elevation
- 1.5 km kids cross country around the Fruit Bowl
Runners must carry at least 500 mL of water from the start; entrants who do not carry water will not receive a result. Aid stations are provided on both courses and typically offer fruit, water, lollies and chips; some stations on the longer course also provide electrolytes and cola. There are no disposable cups at aid stations, so runners are asked to use their own collapsible cups or flasks.
Additional details include accessible parking in a paddock near Bells Line of Road, toilets at the race hub and campground, volunteer marshals on course, and on-course safety measures such as course marshals and emergency pads at aid stations. Age limits apply for the 16 km and 34 km events and a separate kids race is available with adults required to accompany very young children.
