Burralow Bush Run

The Burralow Bush Run is a trail running event held in the Hawkesbury region, northwest of Sydney. Organized as a collaboration between the Hawkesbury Trail Runners and Running Wild NSW, the race takes place in the foothills of the mountains. The event hub is situated at the Bilpin Fruit Bowl, which serves as both the starting and finishing point for the participants.

The courses utilize fire trails and tracks throughout national park land, passing through areas such as Kurrajong Heights, Bilpin, and Bowen Mountain. The event is a non-profit initiative, with funds raised dedicated to supporting the local Rural Fire Service (RFS) brigades in Bilpin, Kurrajong Heights, and Grose Vale.

Participants can choose from several distance options:

  • 1.5 km cross country kids course through an orchard (participants aged 6 and under must run with an adult).
  • 16 km known as "The Devil's Dash," featuring 200m elevation gain and views of the Grose Valley with a 3.5-hour cut-off.
  • 34 km known as "Billy to BoMo," including 800m elevation gain and a 6-hour cut-off.

The 34 km route includes out-and-back sections that travel down to the Burralow Campground and up toward the Crago Observatory at Bowen Mountain. A guided UTA training and taper run in Katoomba using the UTA11 route and nearby trails, offering 11 to 24 km options, three pace groups and NPWS ECO PASS licensed guides. Mandatory UTA22 gear and minimum age 12.

A 25 km trail run along the Oaks Fire Trail in Blue Mountains National Park, from near Woodford station to Euroka Clearing at Glenbrook. One midcourse aid station at about 12 km and finish-line food and drinks are provided.

A military inspired obstacle event at Dragle Farm with multiple distances including a timed Elite wave and a 12HR endurance format, on site camping, festival area and a range of terrain driven obstacles.
