BMF UTA Training Run
Katoomba, Australia • 25 Apr 2026
Event Overview
This is a training run scheduled three weeks before the Ultra Trail Australia (UTA) race. It is described as the final long training run for those preparing for the UTA50, UTA100, or UTA Miler events, with an option on the UTA22 course. The run is organized by Blue Mountains Fitness in partnership with The Body Mechanic and aligns with suggested training plans.
Distances and Route
Participants can choose from different distances:
- A 20km option, which includes a bail-out point at Gordon Falls.
- A base 34km loop starting and finishing at Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH).
- An extended option of 45km or more for faster runners.
The training course uses parts of the official UTA50, UTA100, and UTA Miler routes. The described 34km loop goes from QVH down Kedumba, past Leura and Jamison Creeks, and includes sections like Fern Bower, Federal Pass, Leura Forest, and Wentworth Falls before returning.
Training Groups and Support
The run is guided with multiple pace groups named Turtles, Mid Paced, and Hares. Organizers state that participants will not be left behind and can swap groups during the run. Participants are asked to bring the mandatory gear required for the UTA50/100/Miler races as a practice. Experienced trainers will be present to discuss topics like race strategy, nutrition, and gear.
