Mt Solitary Ultra

The Mt Solitary Ultra is a 45 km trail race held near Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains. The course gains approximately 2515 m of elevation and circles the Jamison Valley, including a traverse over Mt Solitary. The event starts and finishes close to the Old Queen Victoria Hospital on Tableland Road, Wentworth Falls.

The route includes fast downhill fire and single tracks, steep uphill sections, stairs, rolling single trails, creek and river crossings, and sections of rock scrambling. Parts of the course are rugged, steep and technical. The route is marked and marshalled at key points, but runners should be prepared to navigate on remote sections.

Support on course includes an aid station at about 25 km at Prince Henry Picnic Area and an unmanned water supply at about 37 km. Aid stations provide basic supplies, emergency pads and tampons, hand sanitiser, bins and volunteers in contact with First Aid. There are no paper cups supplied on course so runners are expected to carry water capacity and use their own reusable cup or flask. Portaloos are available at the start and finish.

Entry for the 45 km event is listed at $160 and places are limited with no on the day entries. Mandatory gear and qualifying standards are specified in the event information pack. For 2026 there is a limited early start option for up to 20 runners who are not eligible for podium places and who demonstrate capability and self sufficient operation on the remote course.
