Blue Castle Run

The Blue Castle Run is a trail race held at The Blue Pool nature reserve in Dorset and forms part of The Purbeck Trail Series. The 2026 edition will use the same route but run in the opposite direction, offering altered views of the course. The event date is Saturday 7 November 2026.

The event is a 7 mile chip timed trail race that starts and finishes at The Blue Pool. The route includes ancient woodland trails, hills and heath, ridges and valleys, and passes occasional castle remains. Runners circle The Blue Pool twice during the race.

Logistics include a 150 minute cut off for the 7 mile race and one aid station at about 5 miles. Water is provided at the finish. The event is cupless so participants should bring a collapsible cup. A GPX file for the route is available; note the first and last kilometre are only accessible with paid entry to The Blue Pool.

Canicross entries are available but numbers are capped. Results are chip timed and will be published. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers and to the first three mixed canicross teams. Every finisher receives a medal.

Minimum age for the 7 mile race is 17. Entry fees are listed at £28 for unaffiliated runners and £26 for affiliated runners. Entry for a runner includes access to The Blue Pool for the runner, one adult supporter and up to two children under 16. T shirts are available by pre order only and will not be sold on the day.
