Block Island Shad Bloom 10K Trail Run

The Block Island Shad Bloom 10K Trail Run is a spring event held on Block Island, Rhode Island. The course covers a distance of 10 km and features diverse terrain. Participants navigate dirt roads lined with stone walls, pass through rolling pastures, and follow a winding track along the Atlantic coast.

A notable feature of the course occurs at the four-mile mark, where runners encounter a section known as the wall. This part of the route consists of a steep, double-tiered, and narrow climb. The course layout ensures that each mile provides a different environment and view of the island landscape.

The event starts and finishes at the Block Island School on Payne Road. Packet pickup and day-of registration are available at the school on the morning of the race. Registered participants receive an informational email including course maps a few days prior to the event.

Logistics for the event are dependent on local transport. If the ferry service is cancelled on the scheduled race day, the event is postponed until the following Sunday. All participants are required to adhere to any current health and safety restrictions in place at the time of the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
