Blacksheep 3 and 6 Hour Challenge

Set on the edge of the North Yorkshire Dales in Masham, this looped trail event is organised by Its Grim Up North Running near Masham Sports Club and the Black Sheep Brewery. Participants choose between a three hour option or a six hour challenge and complete as many laps of the course as they wish within their chosen time window.

The route is a mixture of trail and road with stiles and one steady climb; overall description is "flat(ish)". The course is marshalled and signed and the races are licensed by the Trail Running Association. Feed and drink stations are placed at roughly every three miles; the event operates a cupless approach so runners are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle.

Finishers receive a bespoke medal and a selection of treats, including a beer and a sausage sandwich with alcohol free and vegetarian options. Toilets are available in the town market square. Practical notes for participants include downloadable GPX files for navigation, a ban on large over ear headphones with alternatives suggested, possible unmarshalled road crossings, and the option to withdraw with notice to the nearest marshal. Parking is available on the field at the event location for a £5 fee that supports local charitable causes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
