Event Overview
The Big Cross Frozen Tundra is a winter running event held at the Big Cross Cross Country Course in Pasco, Washington. The race utilizes the woodchip, dirt, and gravel trails of the facility to provide an off-road running experience. This event is open to the general public, including current and former members of local high school cross country and track teams.
Participants can choose from the following event distances:
- 2.5 Mile Run/Walk
- 5 Mile Run
The 5 Mile Run consists of two laps of the designated 2.5 mile circuit. The event has a participant limit of 120 individuals for each race category. Registration is available online or in person at the Pasco City Hall Recreation Services offices until the day before the event.
Team Participation and Atmosphere
Participants are encouraged to create teams and wear unique team uniforms to contribute to the event environment. While teams can be formed for camaraderie, race scores for teams are not tracked. All registered participants receive a race logo runners belt as a giveaway. For the 5 Mile Run, finisher ribbons are awarded to the top 10 male and female finishers.
Spectator Information
Designated viewing areas are available for spectators along the course. Guidelines require observers to stay clear of the start and finish lines and avoid crossing the race path when runners are approaching.
