Beyond the Lune Skyline Winter Ultra is a single-day trail ultra held on 20 December 2025 in Kirkby Lonsdale (The Royal Barn, LA6 2AB). The event is a ~loop course that starts and finishes at the Barn in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale. Minimum age is 18. Entry fee is £45. Entries open 10 July 2025 and close 18 December 2025; entries listed so far number seven participants.

Course and logistics

The route is 65 km (about 40 miles) with 2000 m of ascent. The course stays mainly on footpaths and bridleways, includes some boggy and technical sections, and uses only about 10 km of tarmac. The loop does not pass through any towns and includes seven summits and several local landmarks. Participants must be able to self-navigate using a map or a GPS unit; two checkpoints/feed stations are provided on the route, with hot food and drinks available.

Entry items and mandatory kit

Included for entrants are a GPX file, two feed stations/checkpoints, finish refreshments (beer or mulled wine), sourdough pizza and a crumble box, merchandise, and prizes. Mandatory kit to be checked at registration includes a race vest or pack, trail shoes, waterproof jacket and overtrousers, warm layers, waterproof gloves, hat, head torch with spare batteries, map, GPS unit (not a phone), compass, whistle, survival bag, small first aid kit, food and water, and a mobile phone. Allithwaite 8 on 1 November 2025 is an 8 mile 13 km trail and fell race on the edge of the Lake District and Cartmel peninsula, promising scenic, varied terrain and a true off road feel. Entries are currently full with a waiting list.

Run Bolton Abbey on 9 November 2025 offers scenic, hilly trail routes through the estate with distances from a family 2.4 mile fun run to a challenging half marathon. Entries are limited and proceeds support Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

Challenge yourself at the Litton Birks Fell Race in North Yorkshire on 15 November 2025, a tough 5 km senior course with about 362 m ascent on a new 2024 route. Junior races run from U9 to U17 and race HQ is the Queens Arms pub.
