Route, logistics and mandatory kit

The route starts and finishes at The Royal Barn in Kirkby Lonsdale and does not pass through any towns. Participants will follow a loop that includes seven summits and a section referred to as the Radical steps near the end. Terrain is mostly footpaths and bridleways with some boggy sections; about 10 km of the route is on tarmac. Participants must be able to self-navigate the whole loop using a map or GPS unit. Two checkpoints and feed stations provide hot food, drinks and sweet treats. Mandatory kit to be checked at registration includes a rucksack or race vest, trail shoes, waterproof jacket and overtrousers, warm layers and hat, gloves, survival bag, map, GPS unit (not a phone), compass, whistle, small first aid kit, food and water, head torch with spare batteries, and a mobile phone.
