Beyond the Lune Summer Trails

Beyond the Lune Summer Trails takes place on Saturday 20 June 2026 at The Royal Barn, Kirkby Lonsdale (LA6 2AB). Entries open 23 December 2025 and close 15 June 2026. Entry fees are: 20 km £25.00, 10 km £20.00, 5 km £10.00. Registration is handled through the SiEntries system. Under 16s are allowed if running with a parent or guardian.

The routes use local footpaths, bridleways and river paths and include on- and off-road sections. The 5 km route goes out toward Casterton golf club and returns along the river, and includes the '99' steps. U13s may run free with an adult (maximum two U13s per adult). The 10 km route follows footpaths and bridleways around Casterton and the Bullpot area, returning via Devil's Bridge and the river path to the '99' steps; it is recommended that participants can self-navigate. The 20 km route tours Brownthwaite Pike (Bullpot), includes a steep fell-road section to a trig point and cairn with views over the Lune Valley and the Lake District on clear days, then returns via Devil's Bridge and the river path; this route requires the ability to self-navigate.

Event services include route signing and marshals (fully signed for 5 km, partially signed for 10 km and 20 km), GPX files for the longer routes, event merchandise, refreshment at the start and finish, and a seasonal Barny Box for 10 km and 20 km finishers.
