Beyond the Lune Summer Trails, Saturday 20 June 2026

Beyond the Lune Summer Trails is a one-day trail running event in Kirkby Lonsdale, with the race hub at The Royal Barn in the town centre. The event offers three marked courses that combine on-road and off-road sections using local footpaths, bridleways and riverside paths.

The distances available are:

  • 20 km
  • 10 km
  • 5 km

Routes leave from The Royal Barn and return there for finish refreshments. The 5 km route runs out toward Casterton golf club and back along the river, including the local '99' steps. The 10 km course uses footpaths and bridleways around Casterton and Bullpot, passing Devils Bridge and the river path to the '99' steps. The 20 km tour reaches Brownthwaite Pike (Bullpot) and a trig point with views across the Lune Valley and toward the Lake District on a clear day, then returns via river paths and the '99' steps.

Services and event arrangements differ by distance. The 5 km route is fully signed and marshalled, with refreshments. The 10 km and 20 km options include a GPX file, partial route signing with marshalls, start refreshments, event merchandise, a seasonal Barny Box and a finish beer. Under 16s may run when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Entries open 23 December 2025 and close 15 June 2026. Cut-off time for all runs is 1pm.
