Bewl Water Autumn : overview

Bewl Water Autumn is a bi-annual race series organised by Hermes Running near the Bewl Water Visitor Centre, Lamberhurst, Kent. Courses follow a route around the reservoir on a mix of undulating rural wooded trail and some quiet country lanes, with lake views for much of the route. Runners World rated this course as one of the top 10 marathons in the U.K.

Race distances and course details

  • 10 km: out-and-back route, marshalled turnaround, 2.5 hour time limit.
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles): 0.6 mile loop then one 12.5 mile lap, 6 hour time limit.
  • Marathon (approx 26.5 miles): 1 mile loop then two 12.5 mile laps, 7.15 hour time limit.
  • Ultra (50 km / 31.25 miles): two 12.5 mile laps plus a final 6.25 mile loop, 8 hour time limit.

Distances were measured using a Garmin Fenix 6X Pro-Solar watch; organisers note the marathon is slightly longer and trail line choice can cause variation. Trail runs nearby

A scenic 7.5 km trail loop on the 1066 Country Walk with a pub finish at The Plough. Limited to 50 runners, this friendly, marshalled event includes post race tea and cake.

Run among the vines at Rathfinny on 28 December 2025 with two 5 km loops across rolling South Downs terrain. Just 75 places and most of the entry fee supports the WOLO Foundation for families affected by cancer.

Celebrate New Year's Eve around Ardingly Reservoir with flexible laps so you can tackle 5 km to ultra distances. Fancy dress is encouraged, all finishers get a bespoke memento and virtual entries are welcome.

Join the Penshurst Village Cross Country Run on Sunday 4 January 2026 for a scenic 5 mile challenge through village trails. Choose the solo 5 mile or race with your dog in the canicross 5 mile for a fun winter outing.
