The South Coast Ultra Challenge takes place on 5 - 6 September 2026 along the South Downs Way. The route runs from Eastbourne to Arundel, passing Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters and Brighton on the way to the finish at Arundel Football Club. The event is offered as a continuous single-day route or as a two-day daylight option with an overnight camping base camp.

The full continuous 100 km route records about ~2170 m of climb. The two-day split lists 57 km with ~1250 m of climb and 43 km with ~850 m of climb. The event includes dedicated categories for faster competitive runners (Trailblazerz) and a timed walking category (Ultra March) with set time targets.

Support and services

Rest stops are provided roughly every 12.5 km with larger stops at about 25/50/75/100 km. Food and drink provision includes regular snack stops every 12.5 km, a meal every 25 km, hot drinks, water and energy drinks at stops, and a hot finishers meal. Rest stops include medical areas, toilets, changing rooms, baggage pick up and covered infrastructure. The event provides GPS route mapping via an app, route signage, roaming medical teams, podiatrists and massage services, camping packages with showers, and shuttle/transfer options.

Trail runs nearby

Run the 20th Christmas Pudding Dash in Pett, a festive cross country through farmland and woods with a muddy 4.2 mile loop plus 2 mile and kids races. Dress up, support Shelter and claim medals and prizes.

Run a 5 mile night trail through Friston Forest and downland under a head torch, finishing with a festive medal and a drink. Fancy dress and a prize add seasonal fun, this is more adventure than race.

Join the Westfield 7.5km trail on 28 December 2025, organised by 1066 Trail Races. Fully marked and marshalled, the scenic loop passes Farbanks Henge and finishes by The Plough Pub with tea and cake.

Run among the vines at Rathfinny on 28 December 2025 with two 5 km loops across rolling South Downs terrain. Just 75 places and most of the entry fee supports the WOLO Foundation for families affected by cancer.
