The South Coast Ultra Challenge takes place on 5-6 September 2026 along the South Downs Way. The route starts in Eastbourne and finishes in Arundel, passing Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters, Brighton (halfway), and Devil's Dyke. The event offers different formats, including a continuous 100 km option and a two-day 100 km option that splits the route between Eastbourne, Hove, and Arundel. - 100 km Full continuous Eastbourne to Arundel, ~2170 m climb
- 100 km Two-day option: Day 1 = 57 km (~1250 m), Day 2 = 43 km (~850 m)
- 57 km First half: Eastbourne to Hove, ~1250 m climb
- 43 km Second half: Hove to Arundel, ~850 m elevation
- 25 km Quarter: Eastbourne to Alfriston, ~690 m elevation
Logistics and support
Rest stops are placed roughly every 12.5 km with major stops at about 25/50/75/100 km. Stops provide snacks, meals every 25 km, hot drinks, water, and options for different dietary needs. Covered rest-stop areas include medical, toilets, changing rooms, baggage pick-up, and seating. The event uses route signing and GPS tracking via an app, and a timing system scans progress at rest stops. Camping packages are available at a base camp with hot showers and chill areas for two-day participants. Additional services include shuttle buses, parking at finish locations, medical and massage teams, and an event finish with a finisher's t-shirt, medal, and meal.
