SPEARHEAD ASCENT ™ : event overview

SPEARHEAD ASCENT ™ is a team-based endurance and navigation challenge across coastal terrain in East Sussex. The route starts at Seven Sisters Country Park and finishes in Eastbourne, covering approximately 12 km (7.5 miles) with about 531 ft (162 m) of elevation gain. The course follows sections of the South Downs Way and runs across coastal cliffs, chalk grassland and undulating trails.

Teams navigate using a route card and must locate a series of checkpoints to collect information that leads to a supply drop at the finish. The event is modeled on commando-style endurance standards and emphasises leadership, performance and resilience under physical strain.

Entry is organised into categories that include:

  • Team – Clean Fatigue
  • Team – Load Bearing

Load Bearing participants must carry a minimum of 30 lbs excluding water in a suitable daysack or bergen; loads are weighed by the directing staff before the start.

Safety and requirements: participants must complete a medical declaration and waiver and should be physically and medically fit to take part. A trained first aider or first aiders are present. The route follows the coastal path so participants are required to keep to well-trodden trails and maintain a safe distance from cliff edges.

Additional practical details noted by the organiser include age restriction 18+, paid parking, and a refund policy allowing refunds up to five days before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
