Event details

The event takes place on Sunday 11th January at Beverley Westwood, off Walkington Road. Entries close on 6th January; late entries may be reopened at a higher fee until maps are sold. The map scale is 1:7,500 with 2.5 m contours and minor revisions to wooded areas for 2025. Terrain is generally runnable common land with paths and small wooded areas, subtle contour features and some bigger climbs. A golf course crosses the area; golf greens are out of bounds. Cows graze the pasture and dogs are allowed if under control. An event tent and a portable toilet will be available. First aid is provided at the finish. Results will be posted on the organising club website.

Distances and climbs (subject to final controlling):

  • Brown 7.8 km, 80 m climb : suitable for experienced orienteers
  • Blue 5.8 km, 70 m climb : suitable for experienced orienteers
  • Green 4.0 km, 50 m climb : suitable for experienced orienteers
  • Short Green 3.4 km, 50 m climb : suitable for experienced orienteers
  • Very Short Green 2.9 km, 40 m climb : suitable for experienced orienteers
  • Light Green 2.9 km, 30 m climb : good for improving orienteers
  • Orange 2.7 km, 25 m climb : novice course, mostly on paths
  • Yellow 1.8 km, 25 m climb : novice course, all on paths
  • White 1.1 km, 15 m climb : novice course, all on paths

Entry fees include senior and junior rates, non-member supplements, and chip-hire options. There are minor road crossings on Green to Brown courses, making those routes unsuitable for juniors under 16. Parking is on the verge of Walkington Road; car sharing is encouraged.
