Ben Lomond Hill Race
Set on the slopes of Ben Lomond, this is a traditional Scottish hill race run in a mountain environment. The course covers 12.6 km (about 7.8 miles) with 960 m of ascent and is categorised AM. A strict halfway cut-off of 45 minutes applies; runners not meeting this will be turned back.
Entrant numbers are limited to 100 to reduce impact on the hill and maintain safety; a waitlist will operate once entries are full. Entrant swaps are not permitted. If the event generates a surplus, a partial refund may be issued; otherwise refunds may not be available. Race registration and the start take place at an overflow car park approximately 0.5 km before Rowardennan, Loch Lomond. Parking details will be published once confirmed.
There are no changing facilities; public toilets are available at Rowardennan and Balmaha. Race control will offer soup with vegan and gluten options, water, cakes and fruit. A small unattended bag drop is provided.
Competitors must be confident, self-sufficient and experienced in hill running. Kit checks occur at registration and numbers will not be issued without the mandatory minimum kit: waterproof jacket with hood, waterproof overtrousers, hat, gloves and whistle. Competitors are primarily responsible for their own safety and must notify officials if they do not start or retire. The race operates with permission from multiple land management bodies; runners share the hill with other users and should be courteous.
Course records: Men 1:02:16 (1983); Women 1:11:57 (1990). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
