Stuc a' Chroin 5000 Hill Race

The Stuc a' Chroin 5000 Hill Race is an established mountain running event that has been held annually since 1989. The race takes place in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, with the event hub located at the Strathyre Recreation Area in Strathyre.

The competition is classified as a category AL race and follows a course that traverses two significant peaks: Ben Each and Stuc a’ Chroin. The name of the event is derived from its approximate total vertical gain measured in feet.

The event features a single distance:

  • 20 km with a total ascent of over 1500 m.

Participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the event to enter. The race is supported by a local committee and various marshals. Following the completion of the race, the event organizers host a prizegiving ceremony and provide evening entertainment, which includes a bar and a free ceilidh for attendees.

Awards and medals are distributed across several age categories for both men and women. These include Under 23, Senior, V40, V50, V60, V70, and V80 divisions, for both Championship and Non-Championship rankings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
