Stuc a' Chroin 5000 Hill Race

The Stuc a' Chroin 5000 is an established hill running event that has been held annually since 1988. The race takes place in Strathyre, Perthshire, within the boundaries of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The event is traditionally scheduled for the Saturday prior to the May Day Bank Holiday Monday.

The course covers a total distance of 20 km and features a significant elevation gain of 1500 m (5000 feet). Participants navigate a route that includes the summits of Ben Each and Stuc a' Chroin. The terrain consists of mountain ridges and peaks offering views of the surrounding national park.

Mandatory equipment is required for all participants due to the variable weather conditions common in the Scottish Highlands during early May. Registration for the event is handled via the SiEntries platform. The race organizers provide a licensed bar starting in the late afternoon and a free ceilidh in the evening following the competition.

Nearby landmarks include the Blair Drummond Safari Park and the town of Callander. Due to holiday weekend traffic, travelers are advised to account for increased journey times when traveling from the direction of Stirling. Over 4,000 runners have participated in the event throughout its history of more than 30 years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
