The running courses include routes around Almaden Lake Park and portions of the Alamitos, Calero Creek and Guadalupe Creek Trails. The Beat the Beast Beer Mile requires participants to drink four 12 oz beers while covering a mile and features a costumed Beer City Beast on course. The festival portion highlights brewers from San Jose and California and offers tastings; Beer Tasting Only is open to ages 21 to 100. The Shindig at Hapas Brewing features music, food trucks and games, and the ticketed Shindig includes a first beer.
