Beast of Bryn 2026 (Bwystfil Y Bryn)

The Beast of Bryn is a fallow terrain running event organised by the Bryn Residents Action Group under UK Athletics rules, registration TR-26-5. The course runs through the mountains of Afan Forest Park and follows waymarked, marshalled routes with electronic chip timing and water stations.

Two main distances are offered:

  • 6.5 miles (approx 10.5 km), climb about 288 metres
  • 10.5 miles (approx 17 km), climb about 556 metres

The 10.5 mile route can form part of the Welsh Athletics Masters Championship for affiliated runners. Entry fees differ by distance and affiliation: short race affiliated £27, unaffiliated £29; long race affiliated £37, unaffiliated £39. All main-race entrants must be 18 years or older.

Race packs including numbered bibs are posted to participants who complete online entry before the mailing cutoff in early August; later online entries require number collection on the day and t shirt size may not be guaranteed. The event provides a finishers t shirt and bespoke medal, chip timing, prizes for the top three male and female finishers in each race with stated prize money, first aid cover, bag drop, event toilets including disabled facilities, and limited free marshalled parking for about 200 vehicles.

A separate Mini Beast fun run for children follows a roughly one mile mixed grass and tarmac loop. Parents may accompany children under nine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
