Beast of Bryn 2026

Beast of Bryn is a trail running event organised by Bryn Residents Action Group (BRAG) and held under UK Athletics rules, registration TR-26-5. BRAG established the race in 2011 and has managed it fully since 2024.

The event offers two measured routes that run through the mountains of Afan Forest Park, providing sustained uphill sections and extensive views.

• Short race: 6.5 miles (approx 10.5 km), approx 288 m total climb
• Long race: 10.5 miles (approx 17 km), approx 556 m total climb

The 10.5 mile route can form part of the Welsh Athletics Masters Championship for affiliated runners. All entrants must be 18 years or older. Registration is online; race numbers are posted to the entrant address if entry is completed before the mailing cutoff in early August. Entries made after the mailing cutoff will require on-the-day number collection and T shirt size cannot be guaranteed.

Course and event services include a fully marked and marshalled route, electronic chip timing, race packs mailed in advance for early entrants, water stations (one on the short route, two on the long route), a bag drop, finishers t shirts and medals, prizes for the top three male and female in each race, and first aid provision. There is limited free marshalled parking for about 200 cars. A one mile Mini Beast fun run is provided for younger participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
