Beast of Bryn 2026 is a mountain running event organised by the Bryn Residents Action Group (BRAG) and held in the Afan Forest Park area near Bryn, Port Talbot (Hillgrove, SA13 2RR). The race is run under UK Athletics rules (registration TR-25-13). All entrants must be 18 years or older. The 10.5-mile route may be eligible as part of the Welsh Athletics Masters Championship for affiliated runners. BRAG is a registered charity (no. 1158947); event profits are allocated to local community organisations.

Distances offered:

  • 6.5 miles (10.5 km) - total climb approximately 288 m
  • 10.5 miles (17 km) - total climb approximately 556 m

Both routes pass through the mountains of Afan Forest Park. There is a one-mile fun run (Mini Beast) for younger participants. Entries include options for affiliated and unaffiliated runners with tiered fees. Race numbers are posted to the registered address for on-time online entries; late online entries require on-day collection and T-shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed.

Event services include electronic chip timing, bag drop, marshalled and marked routes, a finisher medal and T-shirt, and prizes for the top three male and female finishers in each race (long race: 1st £70, 2nd £35, 3rd £20; short race: 1st £50, 2nd £25, 3rd £15). Medical cover and first aid are provided, water stations are supplied (one on the short route, two on the long route), toilets and changing facilities are available, and limited marshalled parking is provided for about 200 cars.
