Event Overview

The Beachy Head Marathon Weekend is a long-standing trail running event held in Eastbourne. Based at Bede's Prep School, the event features a variety of distances suitable for different age groups. The courses are known for their significant elevation changes, including numerous hills and a section involving the Seven Sisters and the local lighthouse.

Participants can choose from four distinct distances held over the course of the weekend:

  • 10k: Open to entrants aged 15 and over.
  • Half Marathon: Open to entrants aged 17 and over.
  • Marathon: Open to entrants aged 18 and over.
  • Ultra: Open to entrants aged 18 and over.

Course Details and Facilities

The routes primarily consist of trails that offer views of the coastal landscape. The Ultra distance utilizes a specific format where runners complete a 10 km loop before joining the standard marathon course. Along the routes, aid stations are positioned to provide participants with water, juice, and snacks such as cake and pasties.

The event infrastructure includes a start and finish area located at the school, where participants have access to the school hall and on-site toilet facilities. The courses are marked with signage and supported by marshals at various checkpoints, including road crossings and the Exceat aid station. Finishers receive a medal upon completing their respective distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
