Two Tunnels Races

The Two Tunnels event is a running competition held in Bath, with a base at Brickfields Park. The course utilizes the former Somerset & Dorset Railway line, which closed in 1966 and reopened in 2013 as a shared-use path. The route features two underground sections: the Devonshire Tunnel, measuring 408 meters, and the Combe Down Tunnel, which is 1,672 meters long. Both tunnels are paved and illuminated.

The event offers several race categories that incorporate different terrains and distances:

  • 500m and 2km Colourburst
  • 5km
  • 10km (Return and Hilly options)
  • Half Marathon (Return and Hilly options)
  • Marathon
  • 50km Relay
  • Ultra Marathon

The Colourburst distances include optional obstacles such as cargo nets, pole weaves, and hopscotch. While some routes are designed to be flatter by following the railway path, "Hilly" ticket options are available for the 10km and Half Marathon distances for those seeking different terrain.

The event village is located at Brickfields Park, which features a children’s playground and space for picnics. The organizers contribute a portion of the entry fees to Sustrans to assist with the maintenance of the tunnels and paths. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
