Two Tunnels - Bath, February 2027

The event takes place in Bath with start and finish at Brickfields Park. It includes the longest underground section for each race distance in the UK, using two restored railway tunnels that run beneath the city. The Devonshire Tunnel is 408 m long and the Combe Down Tunnel is 1672 m long. Both tunnels are reported as well lit, well surfaced and converted to a shared use path for runners, walkers and cyclists following reopening in April 2013 after being closed in 1966 and then restored through work by the Two Tunnels Group and Sustrans.

The programme offers a wide range of distances:

  • Ultra marathon
  • 50 km relay
  • Marathon
  • Three half marathons
  • Two 10 km options
  • 5 km
  • 2 km
  • 500 m Colourburst

The Colourburst races include optional play elements such as cargo nets, pole weaves and hopscotch that can be bypassed. The event notes a community focus around Brickfields Park, which has a children’s playground and space for picnics. Organisers contribute £1 per runner to Sustrans and the event has raised over £30,000 to date. Ticket sales for this edition closed on 15 February 2027 and tickets are currently sold out.
