Badwater Salton Sea
Borrego Springs, United States • 18-19 Apr 2026
Badwater Salton Sea, presented by Mount to Coast, is an extreme team ultramarathon in Southern California’s deserts. Based in Borrego Springs, the 81-mile route runs from Salton City (below sea level) to Palomar Mountain (above 5,500 ft), with more than 9,000 ft of total elevation gain. About eight miles pass through Anza-Borrego State Park on the California Riding and Hiking Trail, mixing road and trail.
Teams of two or three runners race together, sharing one support vehicle, with All-Male, All-Female, and Mixed divisions. The course is notorious for day heat and night cold, with steep desert climbs and demanding heat management. Finisher buckles are awarded to intact finishers.
