Badwater Salton Sea is a challenging team ultra running event held in Southern California, covering 81 miles (130 km) from Salton City, below sea level, to Palomar Mountain at 5,500 feet elevation. The course traverses desert and mountain terrain, including eight miles of steep single-track trail through Anza-Borrego State Park, with a total elevation gain exceeding 9,000 feet. Teams of two or three runners race together for the entire distance, supported by a shared crew vehicle. The race features extreme weather conditions, from scorching daytime heat above 100°F to cold, foggy nights, demanding rigorous preparation and endurance.
