The course features over 9,000 feet of total elevation gain and includes a challenging mix of road and steep single-track trail running through Anza-Borrego State Park. Teams of two or three runners race together for the entire distance, supported by a crew and vehicle. Known for its harsh conditions, runners face temperatures exceeding 100°F (38°C) by day and freezing fog at night.
