Oriflamme

Oriflamme is a trail race near Julian, California, held within Anza Borrego Desert State Park. The event is a 50K out and back run that begins at the Sunrise Trailhead parking area and follows the Pacific Crest Trail north to Mason Valley Truck Trail before descending into Oriflamme Canyon and the desert floor.

At the base of Oriflamme Canyon the route turns onto the California Riding and Hiking Trail, crosses S2, and continues through Box Canyon into Blair Valley where the turnaround point is located. After the turnaround runners retrace the route back up through Box Canyon and Oriflamme Canyon to the trailhead.

The course features single track sections along the Pacific Crest Trail, desert scenery in Box Canyon and Blair Valley, and a net elevation change that includes more than 2,000 feet of descent into the desert followed by a climb of over five miles back to the start. There is a nine hour time limit for the 50K. An earlier start option is available for participants who wish to view the sunrise and do additional sightseeing.
