Event Overview
The Cuyamaca 100k is an endurance running event located in Julian, California, approximately one hour east of San Diego. The race takes place within the boundaries of Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. The event is scheduled for October 3, 2026, and serves as a qualifying race for the 2027 Western States Endurance Run.
Course Details
The race follows a course consisting of three distinct loops. All loops start and finish at Camp Cuyamaca off of Highway 79. The route is designed to minimize backtracking and repetition while showcasing different sections of the state park.
- 100 km: A three-loop course totaling 62.1 miles through state park trails and desert overlooks.
Loop Information
The first loop is the longest at 31.5 miles. It traverses the western side of the park from south to north and reaches the high point of the park, Cuyamaca Peak, at an elevation of 6,500 feet. The course includes sections on the Harvey Moore Trail and the East Side Trail.
The second loop covers 12.6 miles and explores the southeast corner of the park near Oakzanita Peak. The final loop is 18.3 miles long and travels through the northern section of the park. This section briefly leaves the park to enter Anza Borrego, where participants run along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) with views of the desert before returning through northern meadows to the finish.
