Lunatic Loop 6 & 12 Hour
The Lunatic Loop is a timed trail event held on December 12, 2026, near Mt. Woodson in Ramona, California, organized by San Diego Ultra Running Friends (SURF). Runners choose between a 6 hour or 12 hour time limit and repeat a looped singletrack course of 2.5K (about 1.57 miles). Each lap includes approximately 335 feet of climbing and passes through boulder fields, sage brush, and remnants of an avocado orchard.
The course is hosted on a private residence belonging to a SURF member and is not open to the public without permission. There is one well stocked aid station that runners pass on completion of each lap. Event entry is limited to active SURF members; capacity is 50 entries with additional RSVPs placed on a waitlist. Registration runs from October 5 until December 10 while spots remain available, and registrations are processed through UltraSignup. The entry fee is $28.50 including taxes and fees. No refunds, transfers, or deferrals are allowed.
Race day uses two start waves; one wave is designated for podium eligibility and the other allows running under holiday lights and the night sky. Finish rankings and awards are provided for top finishers in the 6 hour and 12 hour divisions.
