Old West Trail Runs takes place March 14, 2026 near Julian, CA, inside Anza Borrego Desert State Park. The event offers three distances:

Course and logistics

All races start and finish at Stagecoach Trails RV Resort & Campground. The 50K and marathon courses each have about 2,555 feet of total elevation gain and loss. The half marathon course has about 670 feet of elevation gain and loss. Courses run on trails through desert terrain within Anza Borrego Desert State Park. Crews and family may access the course only at Blair Valley and Plum Canyon.

Three full aid stations - Stagecoach Saddle, Blair Valley, and Pinyon Canyon - provide water, sports drink, soda, ice, snacks (gels, chips, PB and J sandwiches, fruit, cookies) and electrolyte capsules. Volunteers staff aid stations, course marking, radio operations, equestrian support, and sweeping. The campground offers over 200 campsites with full hookups, restrooms, hot showers, picnic tables, fire rings, and Wi-Fi; rooms and cabins are also available. Dogs are allowed in camp but not on state park trails. Temperature ranges for the event are described as low 40s overnight to low 70s daytime.
