Backyard Ultra in New Town

The Second Annual Backyard Ultra takes place in New Town, Saint Charles, Missouri on October 10–11, 2026. The event uses a 4.17 mile loop around the amphitheater area at 3246 Rue Royale St, where registration and the start of each lap are located. The site includes restroom facilities and an area where runners can set up between laps for refueling and rest. Several nearby restaurants, a coffee shop, and ice cream vendors are available.

The format is a last-person-standing backyard ultra: runners complete repeated 4.17 mile loops and must return within the hour to begin the next loop. To cover event costs, a base registration fee of $25 is charged; additionally, runners contribute one dollar to a race jar to run each loop. The final remaining runner receives half of the jar; the other half is donated to a charity supporting Multisystemic Smooth Muscle Dysfunction Syndrome (MSMDS). Every participant who completes a lap receives a custom NewTown Ultra DNF token.

Volunteers will staff the event into the following day; if two runners remain at that time, organizers plan to make accommodations to continue the event. Event materials include the coin tokens and other race-related items covered by the registration fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
