Watershed Endurance 6Hr Runs
The Watershed Endurance 6Hr Runs is a timed endurance event held at the Watershed Nature Center in Edwardsville, Illinois. This competition focuses on how many miles participants can complete within a set timeframe. The event is limited to a total of 120 participants. Runners have the option to run, jog, walk, or take breaks throughout the duration of the event.
The course consists of a 1.01 mile loop that begins on the walking path leading to the Welcome Center. The terrain is composed of 50% crushed limestone and 50% pavement. The direction of the loop alternates annually, with runners following a clockwise direction during even-numbered years and a counterclockwise direction during odd-numbered years. Because the event concludes at midnight, all participants are required to use a headlamp, waist lamp, or handheld light source after sunset.
Available event options include:
- 6 Hour run
- 3 Hour run
An aid station is located near the Welcome Center providing water, electrolyte drinks, energy gels, fruit, and snacks. This is a cup-free event to reduce waste, and no cooked food is prepared on-site. Participants are permitted to bring their own aid. Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top two finishers in various age categories. There is also a rucking division with specific weight requirements of 20 lbs for women and 30 lbs for men. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
