Back 40 Trail Races
The Back 40 is a one-day trail race event held in Bella Vista, Arkansas on November 14, 2026. The event offers multiple distances and runs on the Back 40 and Little Sugar trail systems, which together provide more than 80 miles of singletrack. The Back 40 opened in 2016. Little Sugar fully opened in 2021 and has become a frequent part of the event courses.
The trails include a mix of dirt, rocks, roots, ravines, streams, bridges and waterfalls, with routes that meander through woods and along bluff lines. The race is organized by the same team behind the War Eagle Trail Races in cooperation with the City of Bella Vista. The event raises funds to maintain and improve the trail system. Participants receive a race shirt featuring a local artist's logo and all finishers receive medals. Overall top three finishers, male and female, for each distance receive podium awards.
