Frozen Toes 5K & 15K

Frozen Toes is an annual cold-weather trail running race held in January at Kessler Mountain Regional Park in Fayetteville. The event offers two distances:

  • 5K
  • 15K

Both courses start and finish at the Kessler Mountain Baseball Complex and are approximately 95% singletrack. Trails are technical in many areas, with the 15K containing additional technical sections and scenic views along the route.

Registration runs from September 1 to January 21. Fee options listed are $35 for adult entries (5K or 15K), $15 for youth 5K entries, and a $20 race t-shirt available for purchase. Standard registration benefits include custom event socks and a finisher medal; registration also lists soup, a drink, and additional post-race items.

Packet pickup takes place at the Fayetteville Parks Office and at the Kessler Mountain baseball complex. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers and the top three in each age group. Timing is provided by Race Wizard and official race photos are taken by Kate Austin Photography; a results board is available onsite.

On-course support and amenities noted include water, Gatorade, fruit, bagels, coffee, hot cocoa, a complimentary beer for those 21 and over, heated restrooms for changing, and encouragement to carry a phone if assistance is needed. A 5K trail run at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve held after the Fourth of July that includes a kids fun run, finisher medal and awards, patriotic outfit prize, and an optional 8-week training program.
