Vertigo Night Runs
The Vertigo Night Runs take place at White Tank Mountain Regional Park in Waddell, Arizona. As part of the Insomniac Night Trail Run Series, this event offers participants the opportunity to experience desert trails after sunset. The courses are primarily held on the 6.5 mile (10.4 km) Sonoran Competitive track loop, which features technical descents, steep inclines, rugged terrain, and swooping turns.
Participants can choose from five different race distances:
- 52K (comprising five loops)
- 31K (comprising three loops)
- 20K (comprising two loops)
- 10K (comprising one loop)
- 6K (a shorter loop option)
The event is held in a desert environment where evening temperatures typically range from the mid-90s at the start to the 80s as the night progresses. This is a cupless race, meaning runners must bring their own reusable containers for hydration. Fully stocked aid stations provide water, ice, electrolyte drinks, and various snacks, including hot food like quesadillas.
The course is marked with orange ribbons with black polka dots and reflective medallions for visibility in the dark. For the 52K distance, pacers are permitted to join runners starting at the final loop. All participants receive chip-timed results, a finisher award, and access to a shared drop bag area near the start/finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
