Courses use desert single track on the McDowell Competitive Track and parts of McDowell Sonoran Preserve, including trails named Coach Whip and Dixie Mine. Terrain includes rolling single track and short steep climbs and drops; the 50 Mile route includes multiple out-and-back climbs and reaches Thompson Peak. Aid stations are placed roughly every 3 to 10.5 miles. Drop bags are allowed for 50 Mile runners (Dixie Mine and headquarters) and for 50K runners at Dixie Mine; crews are restricted to the start/finish area due to permit limits. Pacers are allowed only for 50 Mile runners on the final loop. The event is cupless; reusable cups are available at registration. Courses are marked with orange ribbons, reflective medallions, laminated signs, and checkerboard flagging. Park entry requires a vehicle fee. Medical staff will be based at the start/finish headquarters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
