Desert Solstice Track Invitational

The Desert Solstice Track Invitational is an elite-level ultrarunning event held in Phoenix, Arizona. The race takes place on the 400 meter all-weather track at Camelback High School. This event serves as a platform for record-setting attempts and as a qualifier for national teams. Participation is limited to a total of 25 runners and is accessible by invitation or qualification only.

Participants can compete in two primary categories:

  • 24 Hour
  • 100 Mile

The course is flat with 0 feet of elevation gain per loop. To ensure fairness and variety, the direction of travel on the track changes every four hours, starting in a counter-clockwise direction. Electronic chip timing records laps at both the start-finish line and the 200-meter mark.

The event provides a fully stocked aid station with water, electrolyte drinks, and food. Runners are assigned shared 10x10 canopies for their gear and nutrition. While pacers are not permitted, crew members have a designated area along the course to support their athletes. Specific track etiquette rules are enforced to manage passing and maintain the flow of the race. Prize money is available for athletes who achieve specific performance standards or set new world records. All finishers receive a keepsake and those eclipsing the 100 mile distance receive a custom buckle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
