Desert Solstice Track Invitational - Phoenix, AZ

Desert Solstice is a track invitational held December 19-20, 2026 at the Camelback High School 400 meter all-weather track in Phoenix, Arizona. The event is organized as an elite-level meet focused on record attempts and selection for the national 24 Hour team. Entry for the 24 Hour and 100 Mile is by invitation or qualification, and entry for those distances is limited to a small field.

The meet features these primary events:

  • 24 Hour
  • 100 Mile

The course is a standard 400 meter loop with no elevation gain per loop and a listed maximum elevation of 1,123 feet. Direction of travel on the track changes every four hours. Electronic chip timing records laps at the start/finish and the 200 meter mark; timed events report the furthest distance reached rather than a DNF. A fully stocked aid station provides water, electrolyte drinks, and food; portable restrooms are available on course. Runners are assigned a paired 10x10 canopy space with two tables and chairs for crew and personal gear. Pacers are not permitted; crews have a designated access area.

Rules reference USATF competition standards, include footwear limits consistent with World Athletics categories, and allow headphones under specific conditions when attempting records. Prize money is awarded for performances that meet listed standards. Live tracking and split points are provided during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
