Appalachian 200 / 100 : Franklin, NC
This event offers two ultramarathon distances that run through parts of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia and finish back in North Carolina. The course uses several established trails, including the Foothills Trail, Palmetto, and Bartram, and the organizers plan to donate trail work or funds to the trail associations that maintain them.
Distances:
- 200 mile point to point, 110 hour cutoff, approximately 40,000 ft gain and the same loss, 10 to 14 aid stations, mandatory gear including a water filter.
- 100 mile the first 100 miles of the 200, 39 hour cutoff, approximately 20,000 ft gain and the same loss, about 7 aid stations, mandatory gear including a water filter.
Finisher buckles are provided to those who complete either distance and the registration fee covers entry and the finisher buckle only; other items are available for purchase. The first year may limit the field to around 150 runners. The official race route will be posted prior to the event and is subject to change.
