Viewpoint Endurance Challenge
The Viewpoint Endurance Challenge is a timed endurance event held in Whittier, NC, featuring multiple running and rucking options on a measured 1.4 mile loop. The loop combines a 1.0 mile hard-packed gravel section with a 0.4 mile asphalt connector and yields about 118 ft of ascent and 100 ft of descent per lap. The course passes the main conference center with bathrooms and showers, a main aid station, and portable toilets on each circuit.
Event formats include:
- 24 hour
- 12 hour
- 6 hour
- 3 hour
- 6 hour ruck (men 20 lb, women 10 lb)
- 3 hour ruck (men 20 lb, women 10 lb)
Timed events use a lap-keeping system with chip or tag options and an additional option for participants to self-record laps on a course whiteboard. The timed format credits participants with the distance completed within the event period; participants may stop before the maximum time and retain their recorded distance. A 24 hour finisher recognition requires a minimum of 37 laps, equal to 50.4 miles.
Canopy tents are permitted in designated areas for self-support and crew access. On-site lodging options are available at the venue and include hotel-style rooms, bunk houses, an RV park, and tent camping. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
