Event Overview

The Ancient Trail Trek is a running event held in the Keystone Ancient Forest nature preserve in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. The 12th annual edition is scheduled for February 21, 2026. Participants can choose from three distances on trails: 5K, 10K, or 15K. The event is professionally timed and there is no time limit; all ages are welcome.

Course and Setting

The race starts and finishes at the trailhead (Visitors Center) of the Keystone Ancient Forest. The courses traverse a 1,360-acre preserve featuring old-growth cedar and post oak trees, some hundreds of years old, and rock formations. Aid stations are provided along the courses.

Registration and Logistics

Registration fees are listed as $40 for the 5K and 10K, and $50 for the 15K, with an option to include a shirt. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at a specified running store in Tulsa and on race morning at the Keystone Ancient Forest visitors center from 7:30 AM.

Awards and Amenities

Awards are given to the top male and female finisher in each race distance, with cash prizes: $150 for the 15K, $100 for the 10K, and $50 for the 5K. Additional awards are presented for overall and 10-year age group winners. Each finisher receives a custom finisher medal, and food is provided after the race.
