Escape from Turkey Mountain

Escape from Turkey Mountain is a trail running event held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Established in 2004, the event occupies over 300 acres of rugged park land within the Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness. This location is situated only a few miles from the city's downtown area and features a thick canopy of native trees, including Redbud, Hickory, Post Oak, and Blackjack Oak.

The course utilizes the terrain of the River Parks area, which stretches from Interstate 44 to 71st Street and reaches elevations up to 300 feet above the Arkansas River. Both race distances begin and end at the lower parking lot of Turkey Mountain.

Participants can choose between two specific distances:

  • 5 Miles: A trail course described as challenging.
  • 2 Miles: A shorter and less technical trail course.

All entrants receive a race t-shirt and a finisher medal. This event serves as the third and final installment of the annual "Turkey Triple" trail race series, which also includes the Trail Madness race in March and the Trail Nut races in June. The event takes place annually on Labor Day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
