American River Endurance Run

The American River Endurance Run is a long-standing ultramarathon event held in Northern California. It is recognized as the second largest 50-mile race in the United States. Participation is open to both experienced ultrarunners and those attempting the distance for the first time. The event serves as a qualifying race for the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run.

The event offers three distinct distance options:

  • 50 miles: Starting at Folsom Point.
  • 25 miles: Starting at Beal’s Point.
  • 10 miles: Starting at Rattlesnake Bar.

All three courses conclude in Auburn. The routes are supported by aid stations staffed by volunteers and marked with motivational signage and music. The City of Folsom serves as the hospitality host for the starting locations.

Participants who complete their respective distances receive a classic medallion. Runners finishing the full 50-mile course are also awarded an embroidered lightweight pullover hoody. The event concludes with post-race festivities in Auburn, which include homemade desserts and various beverages. Logistics support for the event includes designated runner check-in procedures, transportation options, and facilities for drop bags and pacers.
