Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Loopet Loppet
This event celebrates Dakota people, land, and traditions along Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ (Bassett Creek). Participants run or walk looped routes, choosing individual timed experiences or a team relay. Laps are completed on a main 5 mile loop; a shorter 1 mile loop is also used.
Distances and event formats
- 12 hour individual complete as many 5 mile loops as possible
- 6 hour individual complete as many 5 mile loops as possible
- Relay team of 4 rotate runners between loops only
- 1 Loop Fun Run/Walk untimed creekside loop
- Little Loopet for kids about a half mile per loop
All events start and finish at the Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Park. A full ultramarathon aid station will be available and will highlight Dakota foods; a trailhead station will offer an electrolyte beverage and a self serve water station is located on the 5 mile loop. Drop bag storage is available at the aid station. A field near the start finish area is available for tents and chairs but is unmonitored and the Loppet is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Each runner may have a single pacer at a time. Relay teams may exchange runners only between loops. Registration for 2026 opens January 1, 2026; registering by October 1 guarantees the special event swag item. Proceeds from the event benefit the Loppet Foundation. Recommended parking is Mortenson Parking Lot at 700 Meadow Ln N. Bike racks and local bus service stop at the Trailhead.
