A Guided Run: Ryders on a Storm

This is a guided trail run on Dartmoor scheduled for 28 June 2026. The route is approximately 10 mile ish and finishes near Venford Reservoir (Venford Reservoir Dam, Newton Abbot TQ13 7SS, Dartmoor). Parking is free at time of writing and there is a loo at the start.

The route heads south west across Holne Moor to Ryder's Hill, the highest peak on the southern side of Dartmoor. From there it continues over to Pupers Hill via Snowden, then east along the Two Moors Way to Scoriton and Holne villages. The final section follows the River Dart to Sharrah Pool, a noted wild swimming spot, before a short but steep climb through trees back to Venford Reservoir.

A swim at Sharrah Pool is optional and weather permitting. Swimming is at participants' own risk; no lifeguards will be in attendance. The event is described as a running adventure at a steady pace rather than a threshold training session or a segment hunt.

Recommended kit includes trail shoes, a waterproof, hat and gloves if cold, and any snacks or fluids required. A towel is optional for those intending to swim, and a change of clothes should be carried or left in the vehicle at the finish. There is no organized return to vehicles for swimmers unless arranged individually.

Total places are 25 and the event status is Open. Entry price until 27 June 2026 is £5.00; a service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies to each sign-up. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
