Burrator Horseshoe 2026
The Burrator Horseshoe takes place in Meavy on Dartmoor on 20 June 2026 and marks the 28th year of the event. South West Fell Runners host the race in support of the Meavy Oak Fair Committee, with funds raised for local parish charities and good causes.
The main course is a moorland run from Meavy over Dartmoor, passing Burrator Reservoir and Sheepstor Dam, and ascending Sheepstor summit (369 m) and Gutter Tor summit (357 m) before crossing Ringmoor Down. The finish is on the village green with a ford dip near the Royal Oak Inn. The event is held under Fell Runners Association rules and licence.
Distances and categories include:
- 6 miles main Horseshoe course
- About 6.5 km Burrator Lite, approximately 175 m ascent
- Junior races for U10, U12, U14 and U16
Entry is limited to a maximum of 250 competitors. Senior entrants must be 18 or older on 31 December 2026; junior minimum age is 8 years. U18 runners may use the Burrator Lite route and U20 runners may compete with seniors. Race entry for seniors is £8.00 plus a 50p booking fee. Junior entry is preferred online at £1.50 or £2 on the day. The organiser requests a voluntary parking donation to the parish and plans registration in or near the village hall. Participants must provide a paper consent form for junior entrants. Awards include age group prizes and a trophy for the first qualifying club team.
