5 Peaks - Weaselhead
Event Overview
The Weaselhead Flats 5 Peaks Trail Running event takes place on Saturday, September 26 at Weaselhead Natural Area in southwest Calgary, Alberta. It is part of the Central Alberta 5 Peaks Trail Running Series.
The event offers runs for adults and children and takes place in a 237 hectare park with hard pack and singletrack trails. The course uses existing park trails and may change based on trail conditions up to race day.
Packet pick up is available the day before the race at a running store in Calgary and on race morning at Weaselhead Flats. Washrooms are located at the start and finish area. Spectators are welcome, and parking is available in the Weaselhead Flats parking lot and on nearby streets.
Distances and Format
Race distances include:
- Kids 1 km
- Kids 3 km
- Sport 7.6 km run or hike
- Enduro 14.0 km run or hike
The Sport and Enduro distances start in self seeded waves. Kids can register for the 1 km run on race morning.
The event is cup free. Water and electrolyte drink are available at the start and finish and at one or more aid stations, depending on the venue. Participants who expect to be on course for more than one hour are advised to carry their own drinking container.
Rules, Safety, and Awards
For safety reasons, the following are not allowed on the race course: dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers, and nordic walking poles.
Swag and finisher medals are not included in the basic event registration and can be purchased separately. An awards ceremony is held after results are compiled. Medals go to the top three finishers in each gender and age category for each distance, and to the top three male and female finishers overall. All awards, medals, and swag must be collected at the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
