5 Peaks - Devon, Alberta

The Devon race is the final event of the 5 Peaks Northern Alberta Trail Running Series. The start and finish are at Devon Lions Campground in the river valley, about 30 minutes south of Edmonton. The venue features single track trails and hard packed sections, with notable autumn river valley colours along parts of the course.

Distances offered:

  • Kid's Race - 1 km
  • Kid's Race - 3 km
  • Sport Run or Hike - 8 km
  • Enduro Run or Hike - 16 km
  • Grit Run - 24 km

The course begins with a hill climb to the top of a ridge, then descends through single track to a bluff that overlooks the campground. The finish includes about 2 kilometres of hard packed river trail. The sport route completes the loop once, the enduro twice, and the grit runners complete it three times. A warm fire is maintained under the pavilion before the race.

Practical information provided for the event: there is no on-site parking, with parking at John Maland High School and continuous shuttle loops between the school and the start/finish. Washroom facilities are available at the start and finish. The event is cup free; water and electrolyte drink are available at the start and finish and at one or more aid stations. The following are not permitted on course: dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers, and nordic walking poles. Finishers of Sport, Enduro, and Grit receive a finisher swag item and sustainably sourced wooden medals are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
